Today, I am writing to all of you to share a message of hope. We have worked hard, all of us together — every contributor to the platform, every reader, each and every one of you who shared, commented, or testified. Our work is now recognized within the legal community as well as among those who study law. And I share with you here the most meaningful reward I have received to date. I believe it belongs to you too.
From the very beginning, EnDroit.ca has rested on a simple conviction: the law must be close to the people. Many of you carry that conviction with us, day after day. You have written to us, you have shared your stories, you have supported this project when it was still only a fragile idea carried by a single citizen.
Today, I received a letter that moves me deeply, and which I have the honour — with its author’s consent — of sharing with you. A practising lawyer, Me Vivan Nguyen, took the time to write to our platform to express her support. These words do not belong to me alone: they belong to our entire community.

THE UNION OF THE PEOPLE’S VOICES FOR JUSTICE
Dear Mr. Gagné,
Since we began corresponding, not a single day of court hearings has gone by without your name, and that of Justice-Québec, now EnDroit, coming to my mind.
If we look back a decade, my great dream was to become a lawyer practising in children’s law. I wanted my work to have a positive impact on the lives of young people; had it helped even a single one, I would have been fulfilled to know it. At the time, I did not know whether I would get there. Today, I have.
Now, I am nurturing a new dream: to sit down over a coffee with the founder of the EnDroit platform, in a later chapter of my life, for confidences without constraints or limits about the justice system. There will come a day when I will take my leave of a remarkable career as a lawyer to turn toward new projects — among them, reflecting on justice in Québec and improving it collectively, one movement at a time, one subject at a time.
The EnDroit platform is an inclusive space that seems not only to welcome these discussions, but to open them up! Bravo.
The work behind your project is immense. I sincerely admire the standing of EnDroit today and your work ethic.
With all my respect for your resilience and your kindness,
Vivan Nguyen, lawyer
Note appearing in the letter: “Professional secrecy will remain strictly respected at all times and without exception. No sensitive information will be disclosed, except with the explicit authorization of the client for the disclosure of protected and privileged information.”
Author’s disclaimer: “This message of support and sharing shall not be interpreted as a full endorsement of all publications by Justice-Québec/EnDroit as of July 7, 2026, since it is not possible for me to review them in their entirety given my demanding schedule. The support expressed reflects, rather, an adherence to a shared concern for the people, access to justice, and the improvement of the judicial system.”
I will not add much to these words, for they speak for themselves. I will simply say this: whenever fatigue or discouragement takes hold of me, I will read this letter again. And I believe that you, too, will draw from it the strength to keep believing that hope remains — and that you are not alone.
And then, there was the song.
That same evening of July 7, 2026, after our exchanges, Me Nguyen did something I will not forget. On her own channel, she shared a simple, deeply personal moment: she sang Imagine, by John Lennon — the song that, for decades, has belonged to those who refuse to believe that things cannot change.
She dedicated it to our work, to this citizen platform, to what we are trying to build together. And in that gesture, I heard far more than a song. I heard someone who, like us, imagines a better future for justice — a system closer to the people, more humane, more fair. The message of that song has always been just that: to dream of a better world is not a solitary naïveté, it is something we share. That is exactly it. We are not alone.
So thank you, Me Nguyen. For the letter. For the song. For this shared fire.
EnDroit.ca · The law, closer to the people
We carry on. And we invite legal professionals — lawyers, notaries, jurists — to join the platform and collaborate with us editorially. Anonymously for some, publicly for others: every choice is respected, without exception. EnDroit.ca was founded by an ordinary citizen; today the platform brings together readers, contributors, and, increasingly, voices from the legal community who share the same common fire for the people and for justice.
If you would like to contribute, share your testimony, or simply exchange with us, write to us. This platform is yours.
This letter is reproduced and shared with the explicit consent of its author. It is a testimony of support for the editorial work of EnDroit.ca and reflects the views of its signatory alone. The letter was written in French; the English text above is a courtesy translation, provided for readability.
